Aveley full-back Sam Mvemba the latest signing at Bishop's Stortford as squad takes shape for new Isthmian League season

Steve Smith is delighted to have added "real quality" to his squad as he builds for the start of the next Isthmian League, Premier Division campaign – whenever that may be.

Aveley full-back Sam Mvemba is the latest new recruit to arrive at the ProKit UK Stadium, adding to the signings of Ben Marlow, Frankie Merrifield, Jack Giddens, Callum Ibe, Ben Smith and Tom Richardson.

Mvemba was part of the Aveley side that reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy last season before losing to Notts County at Meadow Lane.

The Blues have also announced they have retained eight members of last season's squad. Joining captain Ryan Henshaw in committing themselves to the club are James Baker, Jack Thomas, Alex Warman, Aaron Greene, Louis Johnson, Mark Haines and Ross Debrick.

Stortford manager and owner Smith said: "I'm also working on two more signings which we will announce when sealed. As you can see I have added some real quality to the squad and hopefully we will enjoy a good season.

"I hope all our fans are keeping safe and hopefully it won't be long before we can welcome you back to the ProKit and get back playing again."
