The annual Stansted Windmill fete once again saw hundreds of people descend on the village for an afternoon of entertainment.
The traditional August bank holiday Monday event always attracts a healthy crowd and this year did not disappoint for organisers, Stansted Millers.
The fete raises vital funds for the upkeep of the 200-year-old monument. The final total has yet to be counted, but miller Richard Thomas said: "Initial estimates suggest a broadly similar result to last year, which in itself was exceptionally good.
"Attendance was perhaps a little down on last year – based on the number of wristbands sold to children – but remember 2021 was a remarkable year when we had recently come out of lockdown and people were keen to get out and about.
"This year more are away on holidays, plus there's the increasing cost of living, which must be having an effect on people's spending, so we're not at all surprised by that. But it was a great – if absolutely exhausting for us! – day."
Visitors enjoyed tours inside the windmill, where they could view the village from on high, while children got the chance to see their favourite cuddly toys launched from the top as the popular teddy bear parachute returned.
A whole host of stalls, inflatables and games were laid on and refreshments were served all afternoon.
Organisers thanked sponsors Stansted Business Forum, AVS Autos, Canfield Carpentry, KMD Private Wealth Management Ltd, Golf World Stansted, Tesco Express and Brohmon.
