Bishop's Stortford rugby ladies are calendar girls as they bare all for charity
The Bishop's Stortford Ladies rugby team have dropped everything for a good cause.
Twelve models are the stars of a cheeky 2019 calendar, designed by first XV player and Nockolds marketing executive Jasmin Bice. It is on sale in aid of The Eve Appeal, which raises awareness of and funds research into gynaecological cancers.
Carly Poyser, manager and founder of BSRFC Ladies, said: “We thought it was a good way to raise money for charity and a good way to raise the profile of the club. We chose a charity specific to women. I know a friend who’s got gynaecological cancer, so it resonated.”
The pictures were taken by club photographer Andy Todd. “He was so good at making sure everyone was relaxed,” said Carly. “Everyone has issues of some sort, but when we were all together, it didn’t matter – everyone had a really good laugh with it. It doesn’t matter what size and shape we are, we’re all in it together and women should support women.”
This supportive attitude echoes the ethos and comraderies of the entire BSRFC Ladies team – women of all ages are welcomed with open arms, regardless of whether they are complete novices or experienced players.
Carly and the other models chose their favourite playful pictures for the calendar. The printing costs were paid for by Amwell Electrical while Carly’s business, Little Scrummers, covered the postage, which means every penny spent on the calendars goes to The Eve Appeal.
The calendars – which are available in wall and desk format – cost £10. They are available online.
